Antietam Gallery owner gives people chance to express support for Lee statue
SHARPSBURG — With many people afraid to express their support for the South or for a Robert E. Lee statue on Antietam National Battlefield, for fear of being branded white nationalists, the owner of Antietam Gallery held a weekend open house to give people a chance to speak freely.
Gallery owner Jim Kehoe said many of his customers commented about proposed federal legislation to remove the Lee statue from the National Park Service property along Shepherdstown Pike and were “very upset” by it.
