Area Democrats, Republicans united in opposition to Trump’s CDBG plan
Around the Miami Valley, local governments and community activists are rallying against plans by the Trump administration to eliminate a 43-year-old federal program that has brought multi-millions of dollars of assistance to lower-income neighborhoods in the area.
Under President Donald Trump’s proposed budget, the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program could be eliminated as part of $6 billion in cuts in the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
“We are concerned it may go away,” said Mary Crockett, community development coordinator in the City of Xenia. “We don’t see anything replacing it.”
