Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge, first lady honor essay contest winners

Louisiana first lady Donna Edwards and the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge honored five students as winners of the essay contest “An Evening at the Governor’s Mansion.”

Breyell Carter, Keely Falgout, Caitlyn Martinez, Maddison Oakes and Mary Lucille Stuckey were among 51 eighth-graders from four parishes to write essays about style, volume, tempo and cultural influence comparing Joey Alexander’s recording of “My Favorite Things” to a real-life experience, a news release said.
