Butterfield, Jones vote against health care repeal
Pitt County’s two congressmen were among 213 who voted unsuccessfully against a bill that begins the process of dismantling the Affordable Care Act on Thursday.
U.S. Rep. Walter Jones, a Republican from Farmville, joined 20 other Republicans in opposing the bill. U.S. Rep. G.K. Butterfield, a Wilson Democrat, also voted against the measure.
“I am deeply disappointed that Republicans have once again decided to abandon the interests of the American people,” Butterfield said. “Today’s vote in favor of the latest version of Trumpcare, which repeals the Affordable Care Act (ACA), is shameful.”
