In 1987, the 100th Congress passed legislation designating March as Women’s History Month. This year we are celebrating the 30th anniversary of this important recognition.
The legislation acknowledged that American history was largely being told as “his-story” and will never be accurate or complete without the “her-story” being told.
Women have made contributions in every field. In Maryland, former U.S. Sen. Barbara A. Mikulski became the longest-serving female in the history of the U.S. Senate.
