City Council hears from residents about amending city charter

Tuesday’s City Council meeting brought another packed room – many were there to voice their opinions during another public hearing held to discuss amendments to the city charter in regards to term limits and elections.
Before opening the floor to public hearings, Mayor Stan Pickett announced that Tom Palmer, manager of economic development for the city, is retiring.
Jeff Dillion, president of the Mesquite Firefighters Association as well as Fire Chief Mark Kerby and Erik Baack, the fire department’s Muscular Dystrophy Association coordinator, presented a check to the Muscular Dystrophy Association from the department’s most recent Fill-the-Boot campaign. …
