Connecticut’s Washington delegation backs bills to overturn Trump immigration orders
The state’s delegation to Washington is backing various pieces of legislation to overturn or block President Donald J. Trump’s orders on immigration and refugees.
U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy has introduced a bill to cut off funding needed to implement the orders that put an indefinite ban on Syrians coming to the U.S,; halted the entire refugee program for 120 days; and placed a three-month ban on immigrants from seven majority-Muslim countries. Trump’s order cites safety of Americans as his main goal.
