DePasquale: Legislature’s reserves shouldn’t be off-limits to help address budget deficit
Auditor General Eugene DePasquale on Thursday sent a letter to House and Senate leaders asking them to open up the General Assembly’s books and let his auditors conduct an external review of their fiscal operations.
In particular, DePasquale said at a Capitol news conference that he wants to focus attention on the $118.4 million in legislative reserve accounts as a possible way to help lawmakers deal with the projected $2 billion to $3 billion deficit the state could be facing next year.
