Discrimination Allegations Prompt Facebook to Change Ad Policies – Morning Consult
Facebook Inc. on Friday said it will no longer allow companies to use its “ethnic affinity” tool to target housing, employment or financial advertisements based on race.
Questions from lawmakers on Capitol Hill, as well as a lawsuit, prompted the Menlo Park, Calif.-based company to re-examine its policy.
“Discriminatory advertising has no place on Facebook,” Erin Egan, Facebook’s vice president of public policy and chief privacy officer, wrote in a Friday blog post.
