Join STEM4US! for #ETE17— the Energy, Tech, and Education Festival 2017.  The theme for #ETE17 is Hacking the Nation’s Cybersecurity Workforce Shortage in Energy, Finance & Health Sciences.

This cybersecurity-focused festival, now in its fourth season, includes an Innovation, Career & Schools Fair; a hackathon/venture competition; and workshops with industry experts. Breakfast, lunch, and an evening reception are included in the registrtaion price.

#ETE17 guests have the chance to network with energy, finance, and health sciences executives along with technology and education leaders working on innovative solutions to boosting our nation’s cybersecurity workforce.  Come and enjoy cool hands-on exhibits while learning about cybersecurity related jobs, internships, and grant opportunities.  As an added attraction, #ETE17 will feature a Cyber Gaming Zone to underscore the roles of computer gaming and science fiction in exciting youth and adults alike about STEM and the cybersecurity field in particular.

Like in past years, #ETE17 coincides with the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s Annual Legislative Conference (Sept. 20 – 24). This conference attracts over 10,000 of the nation’s top Members of Congress and other policy makers, executives, and academic leaders.  Over the years, the #ETE festivals have become known as the nation’s top forum for the intersectionality of innovation and diversity. As such, #ETE17 is an ideal venue for companies, government agencies, schools, and nonprofits to promote their services and products.

8:00 AM: Registration Opens and Continental Breakfast

8:30 AM – 9:00 AM: Energy, Tech & Education Leaders Press Conference About $500 Million Cyber Security Initiative: STEM4US!, plans to announce a partnership with energy, technology, and education leaders, a plan to create a network of cybersecurity incubators at Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCUs), Community Colleges, and other higher education institutions serving people of color and women, The initiative’s goal is to help increase the quality, quantity, and diversity of our nation’s cyber workforce over the next 10 years.

9:00 AM – 6:00 PM: Cyber Security Innovation, Career & College/School Fair: Join leading businesses, governments, and academic institutions seeking talented professionals and students to diversify their workforce.  Spaces in this fair provide participants opportunities to conduct on-site interviews and collect resumes.  A pool of 300 – 500 potential candidates for jobs, co-op positions, and internships are expected to attend this fair.  This is also a perfect opportunity for large businesses and start-ups alike to showcase their products and services to to the 10,000+ people (including government, business, and academic leaders) expected to attend the annual conferences of  the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (Sept. 20 – 24).  Colleges, K-­12 schools, as well as STEM related after-school programs are also invited to promote their programs to the hundreds of parents and anticipated to take part in the festival.

6:00 PM – 9:00 PM: Energy, Tech, Ed Hackathon Awards Reception:  Come celebrate the conclusion of the #ETE17 festival as we honor winners of our Hackathon along with industry leaders. Participants also have an opportunity to enjoy refreshments and live entertainment. To expand the audience, the event is expected to be live streamed and presented as a Google Hangout, Live Twitter Chat, Instagram Live, and SnapChat.

About STEM4US!: Launched in 2013, STEM4US! is a non-profit advocacy organization formed to increase funding for colleges, schools and nonprofit organizations to expand the Cybersecurity and other STEM workforce particularly in the energy, finance, and health sciences fields.

History: STEM4US! held its first #ETE festival in 2014 at the Pepco Edison Gallery and featured a host of speakers, companies, and institutions including Congressman Bobby Scott (VA) and David Owens, Executive Vice President with the Edison Electric Institute.

Target Audience: 700 – 1000 energy, tech, and other STEM industry executives along with Members of Congress and other senior federal government officials, venture capitalists, academic leaders, professionals, parents and students.
