Events held around city to mark 25 years since the LA Riots
SOUTH LOS ANGELES, Calif. (CNS/ FOX 11) – Saturday is Riot Remembrance Day in Los Angeles on the 25th anniversary of the civil unrest that broke out after four LAPD officers were acquitted in the videotaped beating of Rodney King.
The riots and their legacy are being remembered with a variety of events including a moment of silence and a rally at the riot flashpoint, the intersection of Florence and Normandie avenues.
Later Saturday evening, LA County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas and Congresswoman Karen Bass will take part in a “teach-in” and vigil on West Adams Boulevard.
