With jets overhead, with cannons firing in salute, with a stream of speeches and songs, hundreds of people gathered at the Liberty Memorial on Thursday to mark the 100th anniversary of America’s entry into World War I.
“We still live in the long shadow of World War I in every aspect of our lives,” said Army Col. Robert J. Dalassandro (ret.), chairman of the World War One Centennial Commission.
