Governor’s School supporters hope to save program

Grace Russell spent five and a half weeks on the campus of Salem College two years ago, debating opposing viewpoints with peers, finding answers to her own inquiries and going on a handful of valuable field trips.
As part of the North Carolina Governor’s School, Grace Russell focused on simply learning rather than test grades.
“It was the first time in her life that she was surrounded by students who loved to learn, not just to get good grades,” said Grace’s mother, Erin Russell.
