Hammond Westside Student won An Evening at the Governor’s Mansion

Breyell Carter, of Hammond Westside Montessori School, was one of five eighth-graders invited to the Governor’s Mansion on Feb. 16 to meet Gov. John Bel Edwards and first lady Donna Edwards. 

The students participated in a statewide An Evening at the Governor’s Mansion Essay Contest sponsored by the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge and the first lady. 

The honorees also listened to a piano concert by 14-year-old Joey Alexander.
