House reduces expired concealed gun permit penalty to a fine
LANSING, Mich.>> The Republican-led Michigan House voted Wednesday to reduce the penalty for residents who let their concealed gun licenses expire to a fine rather than charging them with a felony.
The House also approved a measure that would require municipalities to align their gun ordinances to state law and would make Michigan only the fourth state to penalize local governments for not complying.
One of the bills would assess a $330 fine on someone who fails to renew his or her permit and is found carrying a concealed gun, as long as the violation occurs within six months of license …
