Houston doing all it can to help — and hang on to — storm victim residents
HOUSTON — For days, the George R. Brown Convention Center was bursting with Tropical Storm Harvey evacuees, as nearly 10,000 flocked here for shelter.
That number now stands at about 2,500 because those forced to flee their homes are either making their way back into neighborhoods that were underwater or seeking shelter elsewhere in the city or across the state. Some are finding safer ground with friends and relatives.
