Legislature reconvenes to address budget
It’s been nothing but work since noon when the special session convened. It began with a showdown — a vote to override Gov. Susana Martinez’s line-item budget vetoes. Members of both the House and Senate voted on whether to restore funding for colleges and universities.
Both chambers fell short, and the override vote failed in the House and Senate. Only one Republican supported the override, Rep. Sarah Maestas Barnes from Albuquerque.
