Local leaders tackle wide range of topics at town hall in Oak Park
More than 50 people filled the council chamber at Oak Park’s village hall on Aug. 24 for a town hall meeting hosted by Congressman Danny K. Davis.
Cook County Commissioner Richard Boykin, state Rep. Camille Lilly, state Sen. Don Harmon, state Rep. LaShawn Ford and Oak Park Mayor Anan Abu-Taleb also spoke.
The discussion extended past its scheduled 8:30 p.m. end time, concluding just before 9 p.m. as the village hall prepared to close.
Speakers fielded nearly 15 questions about education, violence and poverty in parts of Chicago, immigration, legalizing recreational marijuana, health care, super PACS, the environment, and national and international concerns.
