Michigan CBC Delegation Reception & Motown Live Afterglow at The National Press Club on Friday, September 22nd, 2017
The Michigan CBC Host Committee is pleased to announce that it will host the 2017 Michigan CBC Delegation Reception & Motown Live Afterglow presented by AT&T on Friday, September 22nd at The National Press Club, located at 529 14th Street NW from 7:00 pm to 1:30 am. This event is held annually during the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C. The primary purpose of this event is to highlight the diversity, strength and influence of Michigan’s dynamic congressional delegation. Secondly, to honor well-deserving individuals and businesses that has distinguished themselves in various fields of human endeavor.
Historically, the Michigan CBC Delegation Reception has been attended by members of Michigan’s Congressional and State Legislative Delegations, as well as, luminaries of politics, business and entertainment from across the nation. This year, we will present Detroit City Council President Brenda Jones with the John Conyers, Jr. Public Service Award, Wayne County Sheriff Benny N. Napoleon will be receiving the Champion of Justice Award, entrepreneur and activist Marvin Beatty will receive the Community Leadership Award, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan will receive the Distinguished Corporate Citizen Award – Large Category, Real Times Media, LLC will receive the Distinguished Corporate Citizen Award – Small/Medium Category, and world-renowned photojournalist Monica Morgan, will receive the Trailblazer Award. In addition, I am pleased to present Wayne County Executive Warren C. Evans with the Chairman’s Pinnacle Award befitting his years of distinguished work in the public service arena.
The evening will first class entertainment and amenities including: nationally-renowned featured entertainer, celebrity deejay, and gourmet cuisine. After-Five or Business attire will be strictly enforced.
