No Record Of Big Donations, Non-profits Tell Jury In Ex-U.S. Rep. Corrine Brown’s Trial
No record of big donations, non-profits tell jury in ex-U.S. Rep. Corrine Brown’s trial
Officials from three Jacksonville nonprofits told a federal jury Wednesday they can’t confirm donations worth thousands of dollars that former U.S. Rep. Corrine Brown reported to lower her income tax.
Brown listed contributions of money or furniture to the Community Rehabilitation Center, Edward Waters College and the Clara White Mission on tax returns that have been discussed throughout the week as the longtime political power fights fraud and tax charges.
Several employees of the nonprofits said they weren’t in charge of handling contributions when Brown reported them, but found nothing in organization records supporting her claims.
