WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today on District of Columbia Emancipation Day announced the addition of three new cosponsors—Representatives Salud Carbajal (D-CA), Susan Davis (D-CA) and Tom Suozzi (D-NY)—to her D.C. statehood bill (H.R. 1291) and thanked D.C. residents and activists who came to Capitol Hill to meet with members of the House and Senate. Norton’s bill now has 154 cosponsors, who comprise 80 percent of the House Democratic caucus. Norton has continued to build historic support for her statehood bill since she broke last Congress’ record cosponsorship (133).
