Probation for Victoria-area mom who stole $40K from playground fund
A woman who stole more than $40,000 from the playground fund at an elementary school near Victoria has received a suspended sentence and three years of probation.
Tanya Adam, 44, was treasurer for the Parent Advisory Committee for Keating Elementary in Central Saanich.
At the time the theft was discovered in September of 2015, the Saanich School District said the missing money had been raised by the parent advisory council for playgrounds and other school enhancement projects.
Following the theft, local businesses stepped in to replace the missing money.
Adam pleaded guilty to one count of theft over $5,000. She was sentenced on Monday.
