Senate confirms Sonny Perdue as secretary of agriculture

The names and hometowns of the farmer participants were not released Monday by the White House. In fact, Perdue takes his seat as the Agriculture Secretary just as a 2018 draft budget includes a $4.7 billion spending cut for the USDA.

The Senate voted to confirm Mr Perdue 87-11.
