Storms cause $110,000 in damages, towns wait for funding

After dropping six inches of rain in areas, the storm systems that went through Jackson County May 16 and 17 caused about $110,000 in damages and more than 20 road closures in the county.
“The early morning storms dropped a lot of rain. We have reports of six inches of rain up in the northern part of the county. The main townships that got hit were the towns of Garden Valley, Alma, Adams and Northfield,” Kristina Page said, Jackson County emergency management coordinator.
Page said that most of the damage was to town roads, with less than $5,000 in county damages.
