Testimony shows Corrine Brown an aggressive, charming fundraiser
A car was waiting when former U.S. Rep. Corrine Brown and her daughter, Shantrel, walked out of LaGuardia Airport on a partly cloudy day in the fall of 2014.
Brown hopped in the back seat, next to a New Jersey anesthesiologist-turned businessman she hardly knew who arranged the ride. Months earlier, the businessman, Richard Lipsky, gave $5,000 to One Door for Education, an obscure pet organization Brown had shopped around to donors since 2012 with remarkable success.
By the end of the car ride, Lipsky would be out another $10,000, this time to help the congresswoman pay printing costs for a commemorative magazine …
