Texas Republicans, Democrats have different ideas on DACA bill options
WASHINGTON — Texas lawmakers’ support for legislation addressing the fate of 800,000 recipients of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals is falling along party lines.
Some Democrats and DACA activists are demanding a separate measure exclusively protecting the program, while Republicans appear more amenable to offsetting leniency toward DACA recipients with increased immigration enforcement measures.
President Donald Trump tweeted Thursday morning that DACA recipients had “nothing to worry about.” He did so at the request of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, several news outlets reported.
