U.S. Rep. Alma Adams will speak at Bennett’s commencement

Adams was an art professor at the women’s college for 40 years and served as director of Bennett’s art gallery before she retired in 2012. A long-time member of the N.C. House of Representatives, Adams, a Democrat, has served in Congress since 2014.

Bennett will hold commencement at 10 a.m. May 6 in the main quadrangle on campus. The ceremony is open to the public. The college expects to graduate 76 seniors.

The college will hold baccalaureate exercises at 7 p.m. May 5 in the Annie Merner Pfeiffer Chapel on campus. The Rev. Daran Mitchell, senior pastor of Trinity African Methodist Episcopal Zion …
