UPS to Expand Columbus Distribution Facility (UPS)
For the third time in two weeks, a large capital expense by United Parcel Service Inc. (UPS) is making headlines. This morning, the delivery company broke ground on an expansion at its Columbus, Ohio ground package hub. UPS estimates that the expansion will cost more than $175 million.
The expansion will double the number of packages that UPS can process at the facility. Currently, UPS handles 63,000 packages an hour. The expansion will also introduce more advanced technology to the facility, including more automated machines. (See also: Amazon Is Working on a Jetsons Future Today.)
